The Deutschmeister Band, Inc.

About our Live Music

The Deutschmeister Band provides musical entertainment and a German atmosphere for a wide variety of audiences.  Since it’s founding in 1963, the band has performed at various functions around Toledo, Ohio, across the U.S and even in Germany.  In 1990 the band was granted a charter by the State of Ohio as a Non Profit Corporation.  The purposes of the band as stated in that charter are: “the preservation, promotion and performance of German music through a musical band organization whose members are volunteer musicians.”. The band is dedicated to preserving musical tradition of a German Village band, while bringing a modern flavor to the traditional German town band style.  With this blending of styles, the band attracts a broader, non-German audience, furthering our goal of spreading German culture through music.

The band is structured after the bands in German Villages of the late 1800s and performs a wide variety of music.  Our library contains marches, polkas, waltzes and tangos with over 300 compositions.

Our German band is well known throughout the Toledo area.  From the beginning the band has had close ties to the German American Festival now at Oak Shade Grove, in Oregon.  The band was organized to provide entertainment at the First German American Festival at Raceway Park.  It has provided entertainment at the fest every year since.  The band is proud to be a significant part of the opening ceremony on Friday night.  It marches into the big tent and tears the roof off the tent  with marches like The Vienna March and Old Comrades.  The National Anthems of Germany, Switzerland, and the United States are led by the Band and sung by the multitude.  After the taping of the 1st keg of beer, the formal opening ceremony ends with a rousing chorus of God Bless America, in thanks for our great land and freedom.   The band performs at many local festivals and is busiest in the fall at the many Oktoberfest celebrations though out northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan.  We are never to busy for you.  If you would like a traditional small town German Band with an American Flare, contact us.  We enjoy adding new venues to our performance schedule.
